Knowing this, you don’t have to rely on your local barista to make it for you because there’s a way for you to make it at home!

Make sure to stick around for the recipe on how to make your very own Salted Caramel Cream Cold Brew.

What you need?

  • Cold brew: This one is a no-brainer, as it’s the most important ingredient! You can either buy a cold brew premade from the store, or you can also make it at home. If you want to make the cold brew at home, it’s recommended to brew it the night before, as it takes at least 12 hours to make a cold brew.
  • Caramel syrup: If you don’t have caramel syrup on hand, you can also make it at home. To make caramel syrup, put 1 cup of sugar into a saucepan and turn the burner to medium-high while stirring constantly. Once the sugar begins to melt, carefully add 1 cup of hot water and continue stirring. Keep cooking the mixture for up to 30 seconds before removing it from the heat, letting it cool, and storing it in a container.
  • Milk and heavy cream: To get the proper consistency, you need to use equal parts milk and heavy cream. If you need to, you can try using other dairy-free alternatives, but the cloud-like texture may not quite be the same.
  • Salt and sugar: For the salty and sweet taste of the cold foam, you need both salt and sugar. Rather than just granulated sugar, you can try adding any other syrup you might like, such as extra caramel syrup or vanilla.
  • Ice: This is also an obvious ingredient, but if you can, we recommend making some ice cubes out of leftover coffee. With coffee ice cubes, the drink won’t become diluted as quickly!

How to make cold brew?

If you want to save money, you probably can try making cold brews at home. Below, we will share one of the easiest ways to do it. There are only three things you need: coffee, water, and a French press.

  1. Buy dark roast coffee beans and grind the beans to a coarse grind. Because brewing cold brew is a slow process, coarse-ground beans are the best to use as the coffee slowly releases from the bean and prevents it from tasting too sour.
  2. Use a 1:8 ratio of coffee to cold water in a French press. If you can, it’s best to use filtered water as it produces the best-tasting coffee.
  3. Push the plunger of the French press about halfway down, not all the way. This helps to prevent all the cold brews from settling at the bottom.
  4. Place the French press in a cool place to brew. It doesn’t need to be in a refrigerator, but it should be kept away from the heat and sun.
  5. When it’s ready, push the plunger all the way down and transfer the cold brew to a container.
