How to Make a Lavender Latte?

These are the essential tools to help you get from start to finish.

Ingredients:

  • A quarter (¼) cup of dried lavender; half (½) cup of chosen milk; half (½) cup of water; half (½) cup of white sugar; one espresso shot equals 8 ounces and 2 tsp of lavender syrup.

Equipment:

  • Whisk; tablespoons; measuring cups; two small saucepans; espresso maker; strainer; milk steamer and mug.

1. Lavender Syrup Recipe

Combine the water and lavender in a small saucepan. Once the mixture is boiling, turn down the heat and bring to a simmer. Let the mixture simmer in the saucepan for 3-4 minutes, then turn off the heat. It would be best if you let the mixture cool completely before transferring to a bowl.

After the lavender and water are cooled, strain the mixture using the filter to separate the water from the lavender buds. And, the mixture should cool before straining to allow it to be steep.

Lavender Syrup Recipe

You can then add the sugar to a second saucepan. And the sugar should only be dissolved. Please bring it to a boil, then simmer. You should keep whisking the mixture and stir for 4 to 5-minutes, or until the consistency is syrup-like.

After that, you can add the remaining lavender water. Mix until the sugar dissolves completely. Then, you can take it off the heat and place it in the fridge.

   2. Coffee and Milk Preparation

First, make a strong cup of coffee using your favourite coffee machine (if you can make one shot from your espresso or French press maker).

You should combine the milk into the bowl when brewing your coffee and apply the milk steamer. You should warm it until you have consistent light-froth within 30 to 45 seconds. For a latte, it is better to keep milk in liquid form as we do not make foam milk like a cappuccino.

   3. Combine and Enjoy!

Now, you can add your coffee and lavender syrup to your favourite mug. Let’s mix them until it smooths. Then, pour the milk over the lavender coffee and top with a few lavender buds. To make a sweeter latte, drizzle some lavender syrup on top.
